Manuel Herranz

Manuel Herranz is the CEO of Pangeanic and the developer of the PangeaMT system for translation companies. He worked as an engineer for Ford machine tool suppliers and Rolls Royce Industrial and Marine, handling training and documentation from the buyer’s side when translation memories had not appeared in the LSP landscape. After joining a Japanese group in the late 90’s, he became Pangeanic’s CEO in 2004 and began his machine translation project in 2008 creating the first, command-line versions of the first commercial application of Moses (Euromatrixplus). PangeaMT is now a full division that differentiates itself by not providing just engines but a whole MT system users can model to their needs. Manuel’s belief is that translation professionals should own and shape this essential technology to take the translation industry to a new level of efficiency. Machine translation is too important to be kept as the realm of a few. With the release of a powerful, outlooking API, Manuel intends to open new business lines to savvy translation professionals.

Empowering Users with Machine Translation Environments - PangeaMT - and what an outlooking API can do for your business

Machine Translation has been seen as a threat, as an innovation, as an opportunistic tool by unscrupulous translation agencies…. With the advent of DIY and the choice to in-source the technology, translation professionals are empowered to make the most of machine translation with the least hassle by becoming active participants of the customisation, cleaning, and (re)training process. PangeaMT offers a technology transfer that goes beyond the typical “machine translation sale”. Machine Translation becomes the translation productivity enhancement tool which, unlike traditional translation memory systems, grows with the user rather than being an “off-the-shelf” product. The release and inclusion of a powerful API within the system allows users to create and offer connection to their MT to other organizations. This is a new revenue stream and business case for all translation companies. Learn more about what a Pangea Machine Translation system does, how it behaves and how you can make the most of it.
